Traveland RV – Langley Sales Team
Please call, email or stop by and say hello! I look forward to working with you or seeing you again!
In January of 2000, I walked into this impressive looking dealership and asked to speak to the manager. I only walked in because for some reason I was drawn to its enormity. It looked busy and full of life. I thought to myself; this looks like something I would like to be involved in. It was new and fresh and I had no idea what I was about to get into. I was a kid who knew nothing of the RV lifestyle but, I was willing to take a chance at something new. All I knew of RVing was the summers I spent as a kid in Birch Bay and Penticton camping in our family tent trailer. We made a lot of great memories over the years.
After a lengthy interview process, it was the beginning of a new era for me. I left my two jobs that I struggled to find time for, and I started my journey at Traveland. I swept the floor, was a parts runner, shipper/receiver and just in general a gopher for the guys. Learning from the inside out what it takes to make, build, and maintain these beasts. I followed my seniors, learning how to operate the machines. I spent the better part of three years working the parts counter. In that time, I gained knowledge from the parts staff and the technicians. I worked the launch pad and took care of most of the deliveries going out the door. I did orientations, hitching up trucks and setting brake controllers. I really enjoyed spending time with the customers on one of the most exciting days of their lives. Picking up a big ticket purchase such as a travel trailer or motor coach can be extremely exciting for families. It was then that I realized, I loved my job. I loved being a part of that excitement where people’s dreams became reality. Traveland was like no other company. It’s management genuinely cared. It felt great to be appreciated and needed within the dealership structure. It makes such a difference when you work for a company that takes the time to care for you and your family. They understand the need for a work life balance and that family comes first. It made me really appreciate what was going on within these walls. While I was working in parts, my wife and I became pregnant.
As I became aquainted with the staff it was apparent that this was a company that actually cared, a place I could call home. Our owner, Dale Howes, always took the time to make sure everyone was taken care of and if anything was ever needed, for staff or customers, he was attentive to our needs. A truly caring company with an involved owner makes all the difference. In the late fall of 2002, it was brought to my attention, from management that they would like me to consider moving into the sales department. scary. Instantly I thought to myself no stinking way. I had a wife at home and a newborn son. The thought of commission sales scared the tar out of me. Management persisted. After about a month and many discussions with my wife and my father, I agreed to work the Spring RV show at the Tradex and wet my feet in sales selling Coleman tent trailers. Needless to say it went well, and I have never looked back.
I spent 2003 selling Coleman tent trailers. Eventually by 2004, I was working the towable division. I was able to sell any travel trailer or fifth wheel. I loved it. I spent my days helping people buy one of the most exciting purchases they might ever make!!!! I found it very exciting meeting so many new people, and I was having the time of my life doing it. I could not believe they would pay me to do this!!!!! By 2010, It was expressed to me that if I kept up the hard work I might have an opportunity to work in our motorized division. A whole new world opened up for me. I would be dealing with different clientele, newer and exciting motorhome features that are very technologically advanced, and far more intricate systems. It was a challenge I was ready for, I was like a kid in a candy store all over again. In case you have not figured it out yet I love my job. It is hard not to love. I have the best job in the whole world, as I get up every morning I can not wait to see what the day will bring. I enjoy spending my days helping people, making their dreams come true, bringing true excitement to lives and helping create as well as promote family togetherness. Amazing!
Through all of this, I have a lovely wife who is extremely supportive and two amazing boys who I would do anything for. We are an extremely active family of four. We enjoy camping, and every part of what the great outdoors has to offer. We love taking trips up to the hot springs, dirt biking, quadding adventures, fishing, snowboarding, and even the occasional hike. We really have been living life to its fullest enjoying all of what B.C. has to offer.
Traveland and I have created a very fulfilling life together and I honestly wish that everyone can experience the same happiness my family and I have experienced. I look forward to helping your dreams come true with the perfect RV to suit your lifestyle. See you soon .
