Chicken Curry Rice

This delicious make ahead meal is the perfect nutritious meal for backpackers or people who simply do not want to spend a lot of time cooking while enjoying their camping trip.  All you have to do is add water!

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into a freezer Ziploc bag, seal bag and store until ready to use.
  2. To cook, bring water to boil.
  3. Pour boiling water into bag
  4. Seal bag and allow to soak for 9 minutes, squishing and turning the bag to redistribute and mix ingredients.
  5. Open bag and enjoy.

Alternatively, you can also pour bowling water into a bowl or mug before adding dry ingredients, stirring, covering and allowing to cook before enjoying.

What you’ll need

  • 2/3 cup instant brown rice
  • 1/4 cup freeze dried chopped chicken
  • 1/4 cup chopped roasted cashews
  • 1/4 cup freeze dried mixed vegetables
  • 1 tablespoon freeze dried onions, or 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons powdered chicken flavor base
  • 1 – 1/2 teaspoons of curry powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1- 1/2 cups water
