Spring is finally here and Easter is just around the corner! Here is a fun activity to do with the kids to keep them busy, have some fun and decorate for Easter.
Supplies needed to make your own pom pom Easter chicks:
- Yellow Yarn
- Pom Pom Maker Set (optional)
- 8mm Wiggly Eyes
- Orange Pipe Cleaners
- Wire Cutters (optional)
- Low Temp Glue Gun
We’re going to start by making our yarn pom poms. Use a pom pom maker or there are so many different techniques out there to use (i.e. using a fork, cardboard, etc). Feel free to find a technique that suits you and your budget.
Once you’ve made your pom poms, you’re going to cut your pipe cleaner into small pieces for the Easter chicks feet and beak. You don’t need to measure these pieces, just be sure the pieces are big enough to bend into little feet (as pictured below) and that you can fold the beak in half so that there isn’t a sharp piece of the wire poking out of his little face. Side note: You can also use orange felt for the beak if you’d like.
Now we’re ready to assemble. You’ll place a dab of glue on each foot and push it into the pom pom and do the same with the beak. I used a glue gun to attach all of my pieces to keep the assembly time quick and easy. A low-temp glue gun is safe and has a fast drying time.
